Top Ten User Tips and FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
1.) What is Freedom ONE Waterless Car Wash?
Freedom ONE “Super Polymer Formula” is a water-based product that contains premium soaps, surfactants and lubricating agents, plus a special polymer polish formula. Freedom ONE Waterless Car Wash can be used on all solid, smooth surfaces. It will wash, wax, polish and protect (everything on the car except the tires, carpet and upholstery). Freedom ONE is very easy-to-use and is our best selling waterless car wash product.
2.) If it’s made of soap and WATER – how can Freedom ONE be “waterless”?
“Waterless car wash” is an industry term. Yes, it is a bit of a misnomer. The term was coined to differentiate our modern soap & water method from conventional soap & water car washing. We are actually very similar to the way cars have been washed for decades.
The key differences are: (A) We use superior soaps and super lubricants. These liquefy and dissolve dirt, floating it up and away from the delicate vehicle surface. The microfiber towel gently pulls the mixture away from the car to avoid any scratching. We also add polish – and even wax – so you can accomplish more with much less time and effort. (B) We use the optimal amount of water. Therefore, no water is wasted. Nothing hits the pavement. Nothing goes down the storm drain. Nothing reaches neighborhood rivers, lakes, and streams.
For a car, there is not much difference. For a fish, the difference can be life and death. For a car owner, washing & drying & waxing can all be accomplished in the same amount of time it used to take you to WASH alone! For a community, car washing can be permitted – anywhere, any time, even during a drought – without fear of pollution entering the eco-system.
3.) How can this be possible? (In other words, how does Freedom ONE Waterless Car Wash work?)
When sprayed on a dirty vehicle, the soaps and special lubricants in Freedom ONE liquefy and dissolve dirt on contact. The Microfiber towel soaks up this liquefied dirt, cleaning the surface in the process. (A Microfiber towel can soak up 9 times its weight in water. These high quality towels pull the dirt away from the surface to protect it from scratching.) A second Microfiber towel is used to buff off the remaining polymer residue and into a brilliant shine. The wax in Freedom ONE does not smear or leave white residue on rubber trim.
4.) Won’t a “waterless” product scratch my car?
All Freedom Waterless products are engineered to be high in lubricity (and low in friction). Therefore, the cleaning product itself cannot harm anything…The DANGER is in letting grit, sand, dried mud or other abrasives scratch your car! This is EXACTLY the same challenge no matter HOW you wash your car. This fact is well known by every car wash facility. That is why they always have a DISCLAIMER that they are not liable for any such damage! Check for yourself. It is usually in the fine print – but a disclaimer is always there.
Freedom ONE is designed to safely clean road grime, dust and pollen from your delicate painted and other surfaces. Just pay attention to how and when you use them, and our products are safer than most ANYTHING on the market. Inspect a surface before you attempt to clean it – watching out for grit or extremely dirty areas. If an area is too soiled, sandy or gritty – DO NOT USE FREEDOM PRODUCTS on that surface.
As a general rule, if it took a lot of water to cement dirt, mud, sand or grit ONTO your car, then you’ll want to use plenty of water to REMOVE it – before using ANY car cleaning product or ANY neighborhood car wash facility.
After you have safely removed the grit, etc., use Freedom ONE to make it look beautiful. No need to wait for your car to dry off either – Freedom ONE works great on a wet car too.
5.) Any safety issues I need to know about?
Yes. Please be careful where you apply it. Because Freedom ONE will make everything shiny clean – and slippery too – never use Freedom ONE on surfaces you might stand on – like running boards, step bumpers, or vehicle floors. It’s great for cleaning boats – but never use it on boat decks, stairs, ladders, etc.
6.) Many car car products require shade. What about Freedom ONE?
Freedom ONE is safe to use in the sun or the shade, however, optimal results are obtained in the shade.
7.) Everyone claims to be GREEN. What’s so green about Freedom ONE?
Freedom ONE has been certified to be 99% biodegradable. (EPA approval is expected in 2010.)
But the Freedom product line is also green in SEVERAL more ways. Freedom ONE uses 90% less water per car wash than a “standard” car wash facility (using 30 gallons per car wash). Everybody knows conserving water is good, but most folks don’t understand the correlation between water use and green house gas (CO2) emissions. Accurate Weatherset – an expert in water conservation – explains that “Conserving water is an excellent way to slow global warming”. For every 150 gallons of water used – another pound of harmful CO2 emissions is released into the atmosphere. By conserving 90% of the water with every car wash, we avoid 99% of the CO2 emissions generated by a “standard” car wash facility. You should know that the typical home car wash is FAR WORSE than a typical car wash facility – in using much MORE water and therefore generating much MORE CO2.
Freedom ONE is biodegradable. Freedom ONE conserves water. Freedom ONE reduces carbon footprints. Freedom ONE is BEYOND green…we’re GREEN-GREEN-GREEN!8.) I have always used terry cloth towels to wash my car. Is that OK with Freedom ONE?
No. Freedom ONE was designed for Microfiber towel use only.
We recommend using high quality Microfiber towels with the Freedom products. These are washed in the washing machine with regular detergent. Avoid commercial fabric softener as it causes streaks when you clean. Instead of commercial fabric softener, try white vinegar in the wash or final rinse cycle. Microfiber towels can be washed and reused 100’s of times, however, they eventually wear out and may become coarse and brittle over time. To extend the life of your towels, use our new Microfiber Towel Soap to keep them clean, soft and pliable for the life of the towel.
9.) How – exactly – do you use Freedom Waterless products?
Here are the 6 step-by-step instructions printed on Freedom product labels, plus some additional tips.
- Dampen the first microfiber towel with clean water and ring out well.
- Fold this towel in fourths and spray Freedom ONE Super Polymer on it.
- Spray Freedom ONE onto the surface of the vehicle too. (Please limit cleaning to a 24”x 24” area, or smaller, at a time.)
- Gently rub the product in with the towel.
- Quickly switch to a clean, folded, dry microfiber towel (towel #2) and buff off the residue before it dries.
- Repeat steps 1-5 until vehicle is clean.
Tip: Work from top of the car downward. Work your way lower and lower as you circle the car, ending at the bottom-side sections of the vehicle. Because the lower sections of the car are usually the dirtiest, this method keeps your microfiber towels cleaner, longer.
After using Freedom ONE the first 1-2 times, you will find your car will be very slick and should stay clean for weeks. If you clean/touch-up your car once per week, your car will look great at all times!
10.) Since a picture is worth a thousands words…photos would be nice, right? A video would be even better.
Good point. Here is one of the many Freedom Waterless How-To videos you can rock out to.
Below that are some stills that illustrate how easy it is to use Freedom ONE and our other products.
Freedom ONE
Directions – with photos – for using Freedom ONE (and Freedom Original) and Freedom Eco Tire Shine:
You will need 2 or 3 micro fiber towels and a bottle of our waterless car wash product.

1. Dampen the first microfiber towel with clean water and ring out well. Spray the product onto a clean folded micro fiber towel and…
onto the surface you are going to clean. Hold the bottle 10-15 inches away from the non-porous surface and spray in a sweeping motion, for best results. Spray only on the large, flat areas. Do not spray into cracks, seams or other hard to reach areas. If required, spray more product on the towel, then wipe cracks, seams, and other areas.

2. Gently rub Freedom Waterless Car Wash onto the surface with that first towel. You want to always use the “wet on wet” method. Wet towel with a wet surface. This ensures nothing dry touches anything else dry.

TIP: You will need to be very conscious of the surfaces you are cleaning. If you encounter heavy bird droppings, muddy area or any other surface that could be gritty or heavily soiled, please do not attempt to clean it with our products. Use water remove any and all of the coarse material. Once the coarse materials are removed you can use our products to clean the wet or dry surface. Once a section of the folded the towel gets soiled, refold it to a clean section of the towel. Always replace the towel if it gets too soiled and use another clean one. Please use common sense when using this product. If you have any questions, please contact us.
3. After initially spraying on and gently rubbing in Freedom Waterless Car Wash, you will see a light haze appear. Quickly, before it dries, switch to a another clean micro-fiber towel and buff off the haze into a brilliant shine. That’s it. It is really that easy. Continue on around the car until the entire vehicle is clean.

Repeat steps 1-3 as you circle the outside of the vehicle a few times. We recommend that you start with the roof, clean as you round the car. Work your way around the until you finally reach the bottom rocker of the vehicle. To finalize your cleaning, some people use a third clean towel and go around the car one last time and wipe places they may have missed.
To maintain this luxurious shine you we recommend that you use the Freedom ONE product on a weekly basis. Try Freedom ONE on your household appliances and stainless steel too.
Directions to use the Freedom Eco Tire Shine:
You will need a bottle of Freedom Eco Tire Shine and one towel. A cotton towel works as well as a microfiber for this purpose. This product is intended for use on regular tires that drive on paved roads. Grey, dull and lightly dusty tires are fine, but it is not designed to clean tires that are extremely muddy or dirty. Off-road tires should be cleaned with soap and water first.

1. Spray the Tire Shine onto the tire using a sweeping motion.

2. Some people wipe the tires once to remove any dirt or grime. If you choose to wipe the tires, please lightly spray the tire one more time with the tire shine and leave it to dry. Wipe off any excess overspray on the rims. The grime should easily come right off.

In 20-30 minutes the tires should be dry to the touch and look super-glossy and black. For environmental reasons, we use water-based – not solvent-based product ingredients. The shine is long-lasting unless washed off by rain fall.
